Indonesia, the colours and wonder
I made this presentation for an arts uni course and thought I would share. The slide share program has distorted the fonts slightly , but it is still readable. I hope you enjoy it!

Picassa 3, from Google
Look what I made...great idea for Christmas cards.I have loved Google's Picassa program for ages, especially their grid collages, but this new collage feature is the best.I have seen a few of these collages around Jakarta recently, all framed wonderfully and have been tempted to make my self learn PS, but Picassa has rescued me!
I can teach you how to care, manage, program and operate most Noritsu machines from the last 30 years. I am well versed in the setup and use of Noritsu's photo editing soft ware, and because of this I am totally unable to use Adobe Photo Shop (well I suppose I could if I tried.....).
This took me under a minute to create and looks wonderful printed. As you can imagine, I take a lot of photos and have physically run out of room/walls/shelves to display them all. These collages look fantastic enlarged and framed; you get the benefit from all the photos in an eye catching wow look.
The best thing about this photo editing software is that it is FREE, and from a known and reliable source. It is also very simple to use.
( I am in NO way associated with google, this is just a personal opinion)

Flickr and photo storage.
I am extremely aware of how easy it is to loose all your photos. I would be devastated to loose any of my precious memories.
I heard of many tales of people losing loved ones or of fires etc and not having any photos during my years at Kodak.
I have two portable hard drives with all photos on both of them. I also burn all photos to DVD before deleting them off my memory cards.
I have been using Flickr as well for the past few years.
I currently have over 12 000 photos stored there. Nine and a half thousand people have had the fun of looking at my travels, but not any more.
It was mostly open access for all up until recently. I found that strangers had saved some of my photos of the kids as well as other peoples kids.
Any photo that was remotely inappropriate was never made public BUT Photoshop is so accessible now that I don't want having the kids images available to any old p+rv+rt.
I have officially complained and listed out sites that were of a very dubious nature and have now made all my photos for family and friends only.
If I actually know you I will share the photos with you, email me and I will tell you how.

Polarizing filter for Nikon (Nikkor) 18-200 lens.
GJ had some fun with the new lens on Sunday.
We added a polarizing filter as well as our standard UV filter and this is some of the results.
This is a little tin wall hanging near the pool, I just love the blue.

The whole reason that GJ picked up the camera was that there was blue sky visible. This is VERY, VERY unusual.
We are in the midst of the wet season, and it is really wet too. The rain and wind managed to clear away some of the perpetual smog. Jakarta ( can't find a reliable source for fact linking, but try this) is commonly listed as one of the top ten/twenty polluted cities in the world. We don't see sky during the day and/or stars at night.
This is our home with blue sky above.

The colour and light of this are just perfect to my eye, BUT I am still not happy with the focus.
I might just try to read the instruction manual.

While searching for facts and links I found this on Wikipedia, it is VERY interesting.

Ben actually looking at the camera!
A collage of blue.

A warm collage

Nikon (Nikkor )18-200mm AF-s DX VR lens

I received a combined Valentines and early birthday present!!!!!! (March the 5th...)
I got i!!!!!!!!!!!! I got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it was a surprise!!!!!!
GJ bought me my dream lens, the 18-200mm.
This means no more changing lens, this lens does it all!
I have had only had about 5 minutes to play with this lens so far...these are the results.I did take photos of the kids, all with their eyes closed or closing and a very sharp emphasis on runny noses....I will try again later.
First opinion......
- A heavier lens than I expected, the weight was the first thing I felt; however this is a very big lens and is to be expected. This is considered to be one of the lightest lens around.
- Focusing: slightly different to what I am use to, when I viewed these results the focusing point was different to what I was aiming for. This will only take a short while for me to get use to.
