I did a speed test on our internet as we have been having a VERY slow and intermittent time lately. This is the best speed so far, I have been averaging about 79kb/s. We use fiber optic cables to receive signal and pay for "up to" 512kb/s.........very different to what we actually receive.

A few friends have recently switched over to the new service from First Media and are all very happy with the speed. I can have "up to" 1500 kb/s for the same price.

I dream of wonderful, super fast internet connections........
I have given up on phone lines here, especially in the rainy season.

One day.........

Here is the link if you want to do your own speed test.

In my opinion, firstmedia is rather reliable. Until now, i have not got a single downtime. Also run my cable with it :P

We are with First Media and we love it. I ran the speed test you gave the link for on your site. I can't figure out how to get the image of the results on here, but I got 747 down link and 112 uplink.
We have had some down time with FIrst Media this weekend but we were notified by SMS a couple of days in advance that they would be upgrading infrastructure in the area. We were back up pretty quickly.

Almost forgot to say that before we switched to First Media we were unable to use our VOIP phone to call home because the computer connection was too slow. Now we call all the time to states and can receive calls as well. It is wonderful to be able to pick up the phone and dial without worrying about international phone rates. Now all we have to worry about is the time difference.

Normally ISPs advertise in kilobits, and your PC will report speeds in kilobytes.

Not sure about this case, but if you divide 512 by 8 you get about 65.

So that would be about right...

Thanks Shannon and Rick for your recommendation, I will definitely be swapping over. 700+ is so much better speed than what I currently get!

Heidi, I am SOOOOOOOOO jealous!!!!!!! I can not even imagine how fast that would be LOL.

John, I will go back and check the fine print on the ad's, thanks for the tip!
